Dream. Dream bigger. Dream as if you could not fail.
These one liners are meant to inspire us to dream and create the ideal visions for our lives we so passionately want to pursue.
While the inspiration of encouraging words are crucial for our persevering hope, in today’s world of self-development, these one liners have been emphasized and pushed out so rapidly we can easily get caught up in the ‘I’m not there yet; I’m never going to get there; Look at everyone else living their dreams; I should be doing more,’ self-talk.
Should we dream? Absolutely.
Should we dream big? Absolutely.
Should we dream as if we could not fail? Absolutely.
It is a privilege to have the ability to dream in a country which allows us to pursue our desired lifestyle based on our own willingness of sacrifices and discipline to get there.
It is also a privilege to have the ability to be able bodied, work hard, and have the intelligence to pursue our desired lifestyle based on our own willingness of sacrifices and discipline to get there.
Make no mistakes about it, while you are so easily get caught up in the ‘why’s, how comes, and what-if’s,’ there are humans all around the world who do not have access to the resources or the able bodies to dream at all.
As we dream, let’s continuously be grateful for what we have in front of us and not get too caught up in the finish line, because ultimately, there is no finish line.
But while we create goals and visions for the ideal lifestyles we want for ourselves and our families, let’s not forget to dream for who matters most, God.
In 1 Samuel 7 we see King David chatting with Nathan and pondering in his heart, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells in a tent.”
David then proceeds to dream FOR God!
He does not dream over his own life and ask God to help him reach his goals, nor does he begin to dream to build a temple so he can impact the globe with the message of YHWH, and he doesn’t begin to dream with self ambition to make his name known, but he simply dreams FOR God.
David ponders the ideas in his heart, “I want to give to God because I love God. I want to build for God because I love God. I want to pour out for God because I love God.”
The dream to build the temple was meant for one thing, to give to God what God so rightly deserves, a place to dwell.
What are you dreaming FOR God?
We can dream for ourselves and our families. We can set lofty goals and surrender them to God. We can ask Him to move among them and lead our path. But ultimately, out of the pure adoration and love we have for God, we should also be dreaming FOR Him.
What do you have the passion to do FOR God?
What can you do FOR Him purely out of the love FOR Him?
Ponder these questions. And when the seed of a dream is placed in your heart, work unto the Lord FOR the Lord.
